Hit and Run

Our friend Andy Thompson, 32, was hit by a gray Honda Accord last month while changing a flat tire. He was launched 30 feet into the air and left on the side of the road. New footage from a roadside assistance van shows a second car leaving the scene. Andy was in the hospital for two weeks, and is recovering from several broken ribs, a fractured kidney, a broken left foot, and a broken right ankle.

Andy is glad to be alive. This blog is about rebuilding, both physically/emotionally from the accident and financially from the medical bills. Andy doesn't have it in him right now to post so his friends and family will be doing it for him until he regains some strength. Your comments are encouraged, the kindness of friends and strangers will give Andy the courage and strength to rebuild.

You can read more about the hit and run on kgw.com, katu.com, and oregonlive.com which also include videos of the second car driving away, and Andy talking about it.

We're actively looking for friends and family to post on this blog, so we can keep it going. If you have something you can share here email us at bigthanksfromandy(at)gmail(dot)com and we'll put it on the blog. It could be anything you want and there's no length requirement, some ideas are: a story about Andy, what makes him a great guy, an uplifting quote, a photo, an illustration, your feelings about the hit and run, your hopes for him, a funny joke, a similar experience you may have had, ect., anything goes.

We all wish you a speedy recovery Andy.

  1. Thinking about you and sending lots of healing thoughts! Now, to search the web for something really inappropriate (but funny) to post on this blog...hahahaha.

Take care friend, you have lots of people on your side.

Andy, I fell in LOVE with you the first day we met... You are such a wonderful man! I gained even more respect and love for you when you changed your lifestyle and gained custody of your beautiful daughter. You have set an amazing example of what it means to be a father and I will continue to love you for always! It has been a while since we have seen each other, but my love for you is still going strong! I am so happy you're ok, I Love You buddy for always! Wishing you strong and peaceful healing! I love you!
